Humidity is the single biggest reason a beautiful install starts lifting by week two. Sweat and moisture break down adhesive faster than any amount of styling does, so the routine below is built around keeping the perimeter dry and the knots protected.
Start with the scalp. Before the install goes on, the hairline should be cleansed with an alcohol-based prep and completely dry. If you sweat heavily, ask your stylist for a protective barrier layer — it adds ten minutes and often buys you two extra weeks.
At home, wrap the perimeter every night with a satin scarf, not cotton. Cotton wicks oil from the skin into the adhesive line and is the most common cause of early lifting we see in the chair.
Wash the hair, not the lace. Use a diluted sulphate-free shampoo applied with an applicator bottle along the parting, rinse downward, and never scrub in circles across the frontal. Air dry the perimeter with a cool blow-dryer setting before you sleep.
Finally, book your maintenance appointment before you leave the salon. A ten-minute glue refresh at week three costs a fraction of a full reinstall and keeps the hairline looking like day one.
